SRINAGAR, Taking a note of the amount of talent lurking from every nook and corner of the Kashmir valley awaiting recognition, the Army has taken the responsibility to boost the talent of these young men and women and spread their competence within the State as well as the entire country.
In continuation of their efforts to encourage the physically challenged youth of the State, the Army has sponsored the ‘Jammu and Kashmir State Paralympic Cricket Team’ which is going to participate in the second Mini National T20 Cricket Tournament commencing on April 24 in Ranchi, Jharkhand under the Sadhbhavana Scheme.
A local RR unit located at Aishmuqam, under the aegis of HQ Victor Force, organized the flagging off ceremony today for the team consisting of physically challenged players drawn from across the Valley.
On the occasion, a senior Army officer said “We as individuals also have a lot to learn from these young souls who have stood against all odds. The Army is always with the AWAM & this is one such endeavour towards its commitment which shall continue as always.”
The Army has arranged the kits, air tickets, lodging and food for the entire team at the venue, besides  nominating a team manager during the course of the tournament.
The unit was approached for help by the Captain of the Jammu and Kashmir Paralympics cricket team, Amir Hussain Lone who himself, even after losing both his hands, is a prolific all-rounder. While interacting with the players, Army Officers present on the ceremony assured them all possible assistance.
The Jammu and Kashmir Paralympics cricket team members thanked the Army for providing them with such a huge platform.
