SRINAGAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Ram Madhav on Thursday landed in Srinagar to meet and interact with the Sajjad Lone team. He met newly elected Mayor SMC Junaid Azim Mattu, and corporators in presence of Sajad Lone, Imran Raza Ansari, Abid Ansari and other members of the Peoples Conference (PC).
“It was a dinner that Mayor hosted for the corporators,” political sources said. “Ram Madhav was invited as a special invitee.”
The dinner was hosted in Hotel Taj Viventa Srinagar.
Taking to twitter BJP’s Sheikh Khalid Jehangir wrote: “Today’s highlight of Day shri @rammadhavbjp ji Interacting with the young mayor @Junaid_Mattu & other @JKPC_ and @BJP4India leaders in kashmir today.”
“Rise of young leaders in mainstream India. @sajadlone @imranrezaansari @YasReshi,” he wrote.
Reports said that some leaders of BJP may also call on Ram Madhav to discuss post municipal election scenario and the preparedness for Panchayat polls in the state.
Ram Madhav has been handling Kashmir for the BJP. He was the co-author of the Agenda of Alliance with BJP and it was he who announced the withdrawal of support. On Tuesday when Junaid Mattu’s results came out. Madhav was the first to react: “Junaid Mattoo, independent supported by Sajjad Lone’s People’s Conference and BJP has won d Mayor post of Srinagar. He polled against d combined candidate of PDP, NC and Congress by 40 votes to 26 votes. Congrats Junaid and Sajjad n all Corporators.”
