Srinagar, After the authorities allowed congregational prayers at the historic Jama Masjid after three consecutive weeks, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who was also freed from the three-week-long house detention termed the prevailing situation as worrisome, adding, that Kashmir was passing through the worst phase of repression as violence has touched new heights in the Valley.

The spokesman said that addressing the Juma Congregation, Mirwaiz said that Kashmir’s every inch is witnessing open aggression as entire Valley has been turned into a “slaughter” house for the only reason that its people want their legitimate birthright, i.e. the right to self-determination. He said Kashmiri youth are being selectively killed, houses were blown up with explosives, its inmates including women are being thrashed and the resistance leadership booked under draconian PSA which signifies the gravity of the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
