Sunjwan: The security forces on Saturday killed two terrorists, believed to be associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), hours after they attacked an Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sunjwan area.
According to Defence PRO, at least two terrorists have been killed and some AK-47 assault rifles and other weapons have been recovered from them.”Search of their belongings confirmed that the terrorists belonged to JeM. So far, one JCO and 1 NCO, both belonging to J&K, have been martyred and 9 others are injured. Two of them being critical. The operation will continue till all terrorist are apprehended or killed,” the Defence PRO said.
The security forces are trying to eliminate other terrorists believed to be holed up in the area. Their exact number is not known yet.Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti this afternoon chaired an emergency meeting with top state government officials, including the J&K Police DGP SP Vaid, to discuss the situation.Sources said the Army was going from room to room to pin down the other terrorists holed up inside the residential building. Officials further said that all the families have been evacuated and there is no hostage situation.
A group of heavily armed terrorists, believed to be from the ‘Afzal Guru squad’ of JeM, today attacked the Army camp in Sunjwan, located on the outskirts of Jammu city, in which at least two junior commissioned officers (JCOs) were killed and six others, including a Major and a daughter of an Army personnel, injured.
